Colton's First Christmas

Christmas here was a BLAST!!! Colton made out like a bandit as did the rest of us. Can't believe how much stuff he got, it looks like Toys R Us threw up in our house. LOL. We had a fantastic time with all of our family on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. We always get together at my Grandma's house on Christmas Eve and this year was no different. All the family was there and we had a great time. Also we started a new tradition this year, since Jan now lives here we were able to spend Christmas Eve afternoon with her. Colton got a great wagon from her that I can't wait to get out in the spring. Of course we all met at my moms house for Christmas day brunch. The tree was overflowing and I would say that 75% of it was for Colton! My mother went overboard to say the least. Oh well, like she says "this baby needs it". Now I am not sure what she is going to do in a mere 71 days when it is Colton's first birthday! Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and that you were all as blessed as we have been!
Colton also got his first haircut on Sunday. He was looking a little shaggy so we decided to get it cut before he had a ton of pictures taken over Christmas. He did a fantastic job and sat in his little race car barber chair so well. I think he just didn't know what to do! It was so cute and my little boy looks like a little man now! Here are a few pictures of his hair cut.

Where Does The Time Go??

Geez it's already been over a week since I last posted. Where the heck does time go? The holiday season is upon us and time seems to move so quickly. This is the time when I want the clock to tick slowly but it seems to run at hyper speed. I want to enjoy every second of this time of the year especially with Colton. We got our Christmas tree on Monday, it is a beautiful Blue Spruce that we cut down ourselves. It went up quite nicely too if I do say so myself! I always remember that being the worst part of putting up the tree as a child, Dad would always end up cursing and the tree would somehow have to be rigged to the wall to get it to stay up. Why is it that it seemed so straight when it was connected to the ground still?? LOL. As Colton and I were decorating the tree and the little white lights were making his eyes twinkle, it made me realize how much I love that little guy and it really makes you look at Christmas in a whole new light. It has been a difficult nine months with Colton and many times I have wanted to send him back but for some reason Christmas has seemed to soften me a bit to him. We also started Cry It Out with him on Sunday and he is sleeping a lot better during the night. So who knows, it could be the Christmas spirit or it could be the additional sleep, either way I am loving him more each day. So here are a few pictures for you all to enjoy, our Christmas tree and the way Colton fell asleep after almost 2 hours of crying the first night of our Cry It Out routine.

Yippeee!!!!!!!!!! It's December 1st!! Let the holiday's begin. I am so excited I LOVE Christmas! Only 24 days of shopping left, so get to it! I am just about done with Colton, I have one last gift to get him, my dad is done, but I still have everyone else left! LOL I usually end up doing a lot of last minute shopping and I am sure that the tradition will continue.
On a high note, Chris got a new job!!! Waaahhhooooo!! He is working at Manhattan's and we are both very thankful for the opportunity. The hours are pretty good for us too, he doesn't go in until 3 or 4 so on nights that I work, he can watch Colton so that I can sleep during the day. Which is fabulous!
Colton has his first bout of sickness for the winter, he has bronchiolitis. No treatment for it unless he is acting sick or running a fever. He is just a drooling, snot nosed, hacking up a lung kid but he is just as rambunctious as ever and the bug isn't tiring him out one bit (and I thought I might get a little sleep while he was sick, aren't sick kids supposed to sleep more????) The Dr. said it will just run it's course..........14-21 days! OMG! So he has pretty much been cooped up in the house with me, which is getting very old! We can't go to any of our playgroup outings because he has cooties and they have a pretty strict cootie policy. I knew winter was going to be tough because Colton is a mover and a shaker and gets board easily, but if he continues to get sick I am not sure what I am going to do. Anyone want a kid for the winter??? I will ship him, no charge, hell I might even put holes in the box! LOL. Just kidding.......kinda. Hehehe Before I get any takers I should also offer up the fact that he is getting 2 more teeth. That gives him a total of 8. He is living up to his dad's nickname for him of Jaws Snot Machine. LOL
Ok ladies and gents, again like I said only 24 days of shopping left. Did you buy me a present yet????

We Give Thanks

Thanksgiving has just past us and our family has so much to be thankful for, happy and healthy family and friends, a warm home, and family who loves and supports us. We had a wonderful time with family on Thanksgiving Day. Colton slept through his very first Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, my favorite part of Thanksgiving. We all then met at Jan's house to enjoy turkey made by Chris, it was a beautiful bird and tasted wonderful! Good food, drink, and company was enjoyed by everyone. Colton enjoyed his first turkey, stuffing and sweet potatoes (which he LOVED!), and of course no Thanksgiving is complete without some pumpkin pie.
I was unable to get out to do any Black Friday shopping because of work but I am hoping to get out this Sunday with any luck. Chrismas is right around the corner and will be upon us in no time. Only 30 days until the wrapping paper flies! I am very excited about Colton's first Christmas, he is at just the right age to enjoy the wrapping paper and boxes. Christmas is going to be a blast!

Back in Business!!

Well THANK GOD!!!!! I GOT MY COMPUTER BACK!!!! Now you all are in for it. I have so many pictures to share. So here are some from the pumpkin patch and from Trick or Treat. Colton had his first sucker on Halloween and loved it. I have overall updated the pictures on the blog so go back and take a look at some of the old posts. Thanksgiving is just around the corner and I am so looking forward to seeing family and friends and eating a ton!!! YUMMMM!
On a bit of a sad note, my mother in law had to put her beloved Tassy down. She was suffering from cancer and although she lived a wonderful life it was time for her to go. So sadly she was laid to rest almost 2 weeks ago. Tassy you will be missed but not forgotten. On an up note though Jan has gotten a beautiful new puppy just Sunday. She is a gorgeous white schnauzer puppy named Sedona Bella. Not sure how great the quality will be (it's from my cell phone) but I will attach a picture of her too.

Well It's Been Forever.....

Since I have had the chance to update. The computer is still in the shop so no photos! Boo I have so many to share with you all, I can't wait until it is finally fixed, hopefully this week. Lots of things to catch up on...we got new floors, new paint, getting new doors, Colton had his first Halloween, and Chris is officially done at Nick's and is looking for a new job. Long story behind that last one but it really is for the best. Nick has had a bit of a rude awakening as to how much money it takes to run a restaurant and unfortunately was unable to pay the bills soooo.......
Well that's it for now, I can't wait till my computer gets fixed so I can share all the new pics with you all. Hang in there I can guarantee it's worth your wait!

He's been a bad, bad, boy!

Well I am in cyber darkness thanks to my wonderful little boy! He kicked over my laptop on Friday and shattered the screen! Thankfully my mom doesn't live too far away and I am able to use her computer, but man does this really suck. I won't have any pictures until my computer gets fixed, and from the sounds of it, it could be a while. We have to send it back to HP unless of course a certain brother-in-law may be able to fix it *wink* *wink*.
Colton had his very first experience at the pumpkin patch on Wed. He had a great time and enjoyed all the farm animals, especially the sheep! He picked out a pumpkin just his size and I can't wait to carve it and let him play with the pumpkin guts! Hehehe. He loves the textures of things so I think he will enjoy that. Hopefully my computer won't take to long and I will be able to post pictures soon.
Chris opened the restaurant on Friday, and while there were a few things left to be desired (a 2hr wait for food and then it wasn't the warmest), the food tasted WONDERFUL! I am keeping my fingers crossed for great things to happen. Of course Friday and Saturday was just friends and family so that they could work out the kinks. I know Chris really appreciates us being his guinnea pigs, so a BIG thank you to Mom and Dad, Shannon, Justin, Jan, Rosie, Howard, Grandma, and Grandpa for sitting for 3 hours for dinner! Chris really appreciates it and promises next time around it will be much quicker.
Saturday was the 3rd annual Burt Chili Dump! It was absolutely gorgeous yesterday and everyone had a great time! The chili was great and the Hot Damn Cider was delicious around the bonfire. It was great to see all the family together. It's just the beginning, as the holidays are fast approaching!
Well I guess it's until I see you again......hopefully sooner than later as things will be a little touch and go until I get my computer fixed (thank you very much Colton!).

Patio Party

Well another week has passed us by! It has been hotter than hot around here. It is October and we have had our air conditioning on more than once. I think we may finally be in for a cool down though. Thank goodness because I LOVE FALL! It is my favorite time of year. I love wearing jeans and sweaters, leaves changing, Halloween, pumpkins, Thanksgiving and all the goodness that comes with that, plus I have some really cute fall clothes for Colton that I just can't wait to put him in!
On Saturday we had a patio party/BBQ. It was 90+ degrees but we had a good time anyway. As some of you know we put in a patio this summer and unfortunately haven't had a whole lot of time to use it so we decided that we would invite everyone over and finally get the chance to enjoy it. Boy did we, lot's of good food and fun was had. We have a chiminea that we thought we were going to be able to use but no such luck with it being so warm! I guess we will have to have another party to enjoy some hot spiked apple cider and s'mores around the fire. Below are a few pictures of the party.
Also as many of you know Chris has started his new job as Executive Chef of a new restaurant, Nick's Steakhouse. He is basically building the kitchen from the ground up which is quite a task! Although this has been a trying time for both of us, I am so proud of him and excited to see where this new adventure takes us! He is hoping that the doors will open on the 24th so we will keep you all posted so you can come and enjoy some GREAT food!

Colton's First Race For The Cure

Today was Race For The Cure. It is a 5k walk to support breast cancer awareness. We walked with a local mom's group and Colton did very well. He wore a hot pink tag on his stroller in celebration of our dear friend Rosie Cook, who is a breast cancer survivor! Colton got a little cranky around mile 2 but there was a band that started playing and the cheerleaders where cheering so he quickly quieted to watch. It was a beautiful fall morning, cool and crisp and just perfect for the race. Not a cloud in the sky. I will post pictures as soon as I am able to get them on to the computer.
